Performance works
These performance works explore the intricate relationships between the body, the environment, and the pressing ecological challenges of our time. Using the body as material through Butoh practices, I explore these themes in an ecological, post-human context, drawing inspiration from Deleuze and Guattari's "Body without Organs," Donna Haraway's symbiotic posthumanism, and eco-feminism. This body of work examines how capitalist and patriarchal systems shape the human body, while seeking ways to transcend these constraints and uncover the body’s potential as a spiritual and transformative entity. My performances often take the form of installations or sculptures, incorporating sculptural elements and processes to create immersive experiences. Through my Butoh performances, I delve into the post-human realm, where the body becomes a vessel carrying memories across time and space. My work invites reflection on the conflicts inherent in human society and its self-destructive tendencies, while also seeking to uncover the essence of what it means to exist beyond these limitations. I aim to create art that challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with the world and their place within it, inspiring a deeper understanding of the interconnected systems that shape our existence. However, I am more deeply concerned with generating an embodied experience for the viewer and their affective response to the work than with conveying an intellectual understanding. As such, my work is often highly abstract, visceral, and symbolic.
